Back when my mom worked part time, I used to watch All My Children with my mom during lunch.  One of the characters–Palmer I think it was–had a cool wood-paneled library.  He also had a huge globe that was actually a bar; it opened up at the equator.  That was the coolest thing EVAR, next to the hidden passageways in Adam’s house.  I don’t really want a globe-bar nowadays (though that would be sweet), but I love the look of black globes.  Every so often one of the antique stores near my house has one in the window.  (Image from Apartment Therapy)

A few years ago, Lucky magazine featured a teeny, tiny picture of some BYT at a party wearing all black clothes and white nursing clogs.  The image has always stayed in my mind.  I wish I was cool enough to pull off the look.  If I had $100 to drop on artsy shoes, these old-skool white nursing clogs would be my purchase of choice.

Viktor & Rolf PreFall 2010

Even though there is no way in h-e-double-hockey-sticks I could actually wear these looks (let alone afford them), Viktor & Rolf’s Pre-Fall 2010 collection leaves me in awe.  If my 12-year-old self could pick my current working-woman wardrobe, she’d pick this.  It’s dark with modern sensibilities, yet it picks up a sense of 1940s drama.  I bet there’s a whip in that purse. 

The Dutch team never disappoints.  I’m ready to start adding contrasting piping and mutton sleeves to everything I own…

Lela Rose’s Resort collection has a lot of great detailing with some beautiful basic colors.  The white babydollish dress could work for a summer casual wedding, and the red dress’s sleeves are reminscent of a Burda pattern I love.
